Which mobile network does the China eSIM use?

The China eSIM connects to China mobile. Your phone will show the partner network name when it connects. Coverage and speed depend on the local network in the area you are visiting.

Can I use the China eSIM as a hotspot?

Yes. All China eSIM plans support hotspot (tethering), so you can share data with a laptop, tablet or another phone. Hotspot use counts toward your plan's data allowance.

When does my China eSIM plan start?

The validity period starts when your eSIM first connects to a supported network in China, not when you buy or install it. You have up to 180 days from the purchase date to activate it.

Can I top up my China eSIM?

Yes. If you are an eSIM888 member, you can add more data to the same eSIM from "My eSIM" after logging in, without installing a new QR code.

How much data do I need for a trip to China?

For maps, messaging and light browsing on a short trip, 1GB is usually enough. If you upload photos, make video calls or use social media every day, choose 3GB to 5GB per week. For streaming, remote work or hotspot sharing, pick a larger plan of up to 20GB.

What APN should I use for the China eSIM?

The APN is "cmhk". It is usually set automatically when you install the eSIM. If you have signal but no internet, check that the APN in your eSIM settings matches and that data roaming is turned on for the eSIM line.
